Busy Busy Busy

Hi! Happy Fall Y'all!

Well as I post, we have a hurricane a coming. Now do I know whether it will truly hit, of course not. However we've all battened down just in case. He's a massive one too and named Matthew to boot. My DH's name. Wonder if that's any insight to what's in store. Heehee...just kidding Hon. Well for those in his wake..stay safe and hunker down!

Now to my next bit of news...I did it! I am now a Licensed Terri Johnson Creates Instructor!

It was a great weekend and I had so much fun with all of the wonderful ladies I met and have met in the past. I learned so much I didn't know and brushed up on things I did. I can't wait to get started sharing all the things that my sweet Silhouette can do.

By the way....Got me a new machine too! A brand sparkling new Cameo 3. Now don't get me wrong...I love my old and faithful Sil. She's been a work horse. So she isn't going anywhere. But her new sister...I definitely am fond of her, with her new bells and whistles. Of course I had to bling her up...however I'm not finished yet.

And...with that said, here's a look at all the new things I've been making. I have an upcoming vendor event that I'm participating in and am trying to get enough items made so that my booth doesn't look barren. I'm okay with it looking that way at the end of the day...but not at the beginning. Give me some feed back and let me know what you think.

I had to bling my new jeep!                                        Any idea who this is?

Hope you are Sew Craft N Spired! Happy Crafting ;)

April Zoomed By...Now Here Comes May!

Hi!

Guess what I just found.....how bout my May post...that didn't get posted.  No wonder everyone thought I was no longer blogging....Hmmmmm....I've got to get better at this blogging thing....

So sorry it's late and definitely out of date, but enjoy it all the same...

April is about gone and May is quickly approaching. I've been busy with life, like normal. But in between I've stolen a few precious moments to do some crafting. Mostly crafting for others, because then of course I can necessitate it. But it still counts as crafting, no matter how you look at it. Not only has life just been it's busy self, but we also have added to our happy family. No, I'm not expecting nor did we adopt a baby. Well not really....we have a new puppy! "She" is part Aussie Sheppard and Catahoula.....and can we say ADORABLE! And definitely a baby, which means lots of accidents and everything else that goes along with babies! (I'm definitely getting too old for this...) Bailee is a full time mess maker and is growing by leaps and bounds. She will probably be around 50 pounds when she is all grown up. (Update: at 5 months old - August 2016 - she is already 43 pounds, sew I think 50 pounds is way off from what she really will be) A big leap for us from our 8 pound Chihauhua, Bogey. Here's a picture of the new baby. Right now she is 6 weeks old. Matt has nick named her "Angel" and "Sunshine". Which means, when she's acting like both...she's sleeping.
Bailee with her blue eyes

I will post an updated picture soon! Until then, happy crafting!

Beginning the next journey

Sew....I've begun the next journey within my crafting adventure. I've been sew busy working my full time job that I realized my crafting adventure had gone astray. Sew....in order to make myself do what I love, I had to make myself accountable. First...I have taken a leap with faith and signed up for Terri Johnson's first Silhouette Instructor certification/licensing class. It will give me the opportunity to teach/put on Silhoutte user/crafting Retreats. I'm excited and can't wait as it is less than 3 weeks away. Also, I cannot tell a lie. 10 minutes from my hotel is an Ikea Outlet Store. I plan on doing a little shopping as well. Hey...can you blame me? If you haven't been to Ikea, you haven't lived. They have lots of great products and many of them can be used for crafting inspiration. You know me...I'm an immediate gratification girl! I love to take a ready made product and add my flare to it, to finish it off!

Also, with the help of my eldest, I've developed an Instagram and Facebook page to go along with my blog. I'm planning to use them to promote my finished projects and give me a unique selling platform without the store front feel. To round out all my accountability, I've signed up to attend a vendor event. One of our neighboring counties is having their annual lower schools fall festival and was asked if I would like to participate and have a booth. Well, I said yes...I know...what was I thinking???  Well, since obligating myself, it has helped to light a fire under my britches to start crafting to make sure I have products of all price ranges for sale. Plus I'm going to do a few custom personalized pieces and have order forms available for anyone who might want to order. I'm thinking of mostly having Fall and Christmas items as this event is at the end of October and right before Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'm also thinking I might throw in some football items as well, since we all know college football has started! Go Dawgs!!!

I'm hoping this event will give me an idea of what items are trending and which ones I should stay away from. Wish me luck.

Well until next time, happy crafting and tailgating!
Julie

P.S.  Enjoy a few pics of my most recent projects.

Finally able to slow down and get back to what I love! CRAFTING!

Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah, New Years, Valentine's, St. Patty's and Easter. Did I miss anything? Other than turning another year older..that I can do without mentioning. So, I've had a lot going on lately. Between holidays, office relocation, and my sister friend expecting, I have been all over the place.

I tried to make some Christmas gifts...and I must say they all turned out pretty good!

In January I attended a three day Silhouette Retreat that was hosted by Terri Johnson from TerriJohnsonCreates. She has a great blog! Please stop by and visit her. This retreat was amazing. I am even more so in love with my Silhouette Cameo now. My Sil is my most favorite go to crafting tool. Terri taught me so many great tips and tricks, shortcuts and more. There is so much that you can do with the Silhouette. During the time constraints we faced, she was only able to touch on a fraction of what it can do.  Here are a few items I made during the retreat.....let's just say I am really in like with some HTV (heat transfer vinyl, especially the glitter kind) and it wouldn't surprise me if glitter runs in my veins!

Because of that retreat I am excited to be attending a Silhouette Instructor event this coming September. Along with a group of other passionate Silhouette users like myself, Terri will increase our Silhouette knowledge and skills while providing us with the necessary tools to effectively share and teach others that knowledge. I'm excited to be able to put on my own retreats and hands on classes.

And here are a few items I made utilizing my new found knowledge...

Did I mention we moved our office? It's not our main location, but as a satellite, it is very busy and in high demand. So I was able to use my skills and provide signage for our new glass door. I think it turned out great and I'm glad to say so does our practice manager and our physicians. I kind of think they were pretty impressed not knowing I had such skills. LOL! :) Please ignore the reflection - I've not mastered the photography thing yet. Who knows that might be my next undertaking...NOT!

All the while, I was able to attend my quarterly crafting group and make a few more things. I didn't get a whole lot accomplished, but anything is better than nothing. Also, we have now changed our quarterly date to bi-monthly and have changed our name from crafting days to Crafting Therapy Support Group. Sounds a little bit more important and necessary that just crafting days don't ya think? Heeheehee - During our two days of crafting I did a lot of PINTERESTing. I'm addicted. I'm truly seeking a support group..Oh that's right, I'm already a member. Okay, back on task...I did finish one card from Stampin' Up Paper Pumpkin and began cutting fabric in an attempt to make a rag quilt. And no, I'm not just trying to make a lap sized rag quilt. I've got my sights set on a King sized quilt. You know what they say...Go Big or Go Home, at least that's the way I heard it. Once I get it done, I will post the finished product, no matter what size I end up with. For now here is a look at the fabrics I'll be using.

A sweet coworker of mine got married and husband decided to go military. Guess you know what that means right? They got transferred to Texas and we had to say so long! So we had to send her out in style. It just so happens her name really is Felicia! baahaha!!

Just had to share a great idea for a baby shower gift or even for a gift when going to visit the new baby at the hospital. Why not use a Double Duty Caddy as a gift bag? Another innovative use for a great and versatile Thirty-One product. I love me some Thirty-One. How cute!

And then I got just a little caught up in trying to help my sister friend get her baby's nursery finished, so we did some painting. In between I made some baby gifts for the two showers she was given and tried to keep the gifts a surprise. Don't you know how hard that is to do. Especially when you are just as excited for that little baby to be born. I'll share more pics next time.

Finally he came into the world Brayden Paul - all sweet, cuddly and oh so baby smelling! What I wouldn't do to get some of that bottled. I've enjoyed being part of his blissful existence. I could hold him for hours...but the nice thing is...I get to play with him and then give him back. Until he gets older that is. I think he's gonna love his Aunt Julie!!!

Well as I look back at this post, I see how busy I've truly been, but then again I see how much has been created. So maybe I was doing what I love all along, CRAFTING!

Until next time, Lots of Luv and Hugs from my Sew Craft N'Spired life to yours,
Julie
